Blog 7 Presentation Skills
Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh
Hi blogger friends, this time is the seventh blog in one of the subjects that I took, namely presentation skills. In this seventh blog, I will write down the activities and assignments given in the fourth week of the course.
Our material that week talking about VISUALS.
The first rule of preparing effective visuals is that they should be clear and easy for the audience to follow. However, sometimes it is necessary to explain a more complicated visual and it is always necessary to point out the most important information.
: I would suggest to someone to describe trends on graphs and charts to pay attention to the visuals in the sense of not using a lot of visuals so that what we are going to convey is easy to understand.
Most presentations are focused on data and numbers. When presenting a graph, chart, or any other type of visual, the main goal is to help people understand the main points.
The next important thing is to choose the right chart/chart that will depict the numbers well.
After creating an attractive graphic, one can grab the attention of the audience by using some introductory phrases such as: Include specific details as this horizontal bar shows, the shaded area represents, etc.
The next material is about GRAPH. Presentation software (sometimes called "presentation graphics") is a category of application program used to create sequences of words and pictures that tell a story or help support a speech or public presentation of information.
Presentation visuals build emotional bridges with the audience. They say a picture is worth a thousand words—it's cliché but true. Images make viewers feel things that words cannot and give presenters a way to connect with their audience on a more visceral level.
The next material is about trends past simple and present perfect.
Past simple talk about a movement or trend which happened in the past and is now finished.
1. Signal words for the past simple are last month/year, in January, from 1997-2001, during the oil crisis.
2. Present perfect talk about a movement or trend which started in the past but is not yet finished. Signal words are since (since August) for (for five years).
And the last material is about differences between RISE and RAISE.
1. 'To rise' (without an object)
2. Petrol prices 'rose' again in May
3. The number of tourists 'has risen' to 2.6 million
4. 'To raise' (with an object)
5. The oil industry 'raised' prices last year
6. The European Central Bank 'has raised' interest rates.
Okay, I think that's all about the materials that I have learned
Thank you
Wassalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh.
