Blog 6 Presentation Skills

 Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh

Hi blogger friends, this time is the sixth blog in one of the subjects that I took, namely presentation skills.  In this sixth blog, I will write down the activities and assignments given in the fourth week of the course.

Our material that week was still about MEDIA AND TOOLS used in presentations.

Here are some examples of visual presentation media that are often used:

 1. LCD TVs / Monitors

2. Projector. Is a tool that is often used for media presentations, because it can display images to be bigger.

3. Screen. Is a tool used to display the projection results from the projector.

4. Wall screen.

Here are the tools that are often used in presentation:

Some of the best presentation software include , Prezi, Microsoft Powerpoint, Canva and Google Slides.

Here are the checklist for visuals:

1. Prepare each visual carefully and separately

2. Check whether really shows what you are saying

3. Make sure the audience can read the visual

4. Find effective headlines

5. Keep design and content simple

6. Use bullet charts for text

7. Reduce text to a minimum

8. Present information clearly and logically.

The next topic is about emphasizing point.

Emphasizing a point may be due to the important of the subject or the information itself, or its importance to us, our audience, or the organization. Emphasizing a work is possible through the use of voice, the use of certain vocabulary , or sentence structure.

When emphasizing a point, the pitch relocates to stress the word of the utmost importance to the speaker. A stress followed by a short pause can be used to multiply the effect. The use of a loud, high, and sometimes a quiet or a deep voice can communicate emphasis as well.

The speaker or presenter can emphasize certain point through the use of vocabulary. Words and phrases such as in fact, indeed, as a matter of fact, nonetheless, and to say the least are a few examples.

The next topic is about how to saying numbers.

Numbers, especially long ones, are often difficult for the audience to understand.

For example:

2m = two million

1.6bn = one point six billion

98% = ninety-eight per cent

235m² = two hundred and thirty-five square metres.

And etc.

Remember that:

We use a comma in English to show thousands and a point to show the decimal pieces.

Okay, that's all of the materials that I have learned.

Thank you

Wassalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh.
