Blog 5 Presentation Skills
Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh.
Hi blogger friends, this time is the fifth blog in one of the subjects that I took, namely presentation skills. In this fifth blog, I will write down the activities and assignments given in the fourth week of the course.
Our material that week was still about presentation arrangements. there is a checklist for the main part of a presentation.
The first topic is about BODY LANGUAGE. Body language comprises gesture, stance, and facial expression. These are all the more important when all eyes of an audience are upon you.
DON'T be tense – It's important to look and feel relaxed during a presentation. If you're standing upright but look rigid, it won't make a good impression. No matter how nervous you may feel, a speaker who seems to be afraid of his audience will not win their trust.
Here are 5 tips we share with our clients when delivering a presentation:
Remember to Smile. Your face is the first and most important attribute in making a good first impression.
1. Maintain Eye contact
2. Use Hand gestures
3. Keep an Open Posture
4. Move Naturally.
The next topic is abou SIGNPOSTING PHRASES.
Signposting language is the words and phrases that people use in order to guide the listener coherently through what is being said.
* It is used to make clear what has just happened, and what is going to happen next.
* So in other words, it acts as a guide so the listener can follow what you are saying.
Signposting your way through your presentation
- So, that was my first point. Now I'm going to move on to my second point.
- That's all I have to say on that topic. Before we move on does anyone have any questions?
The next topic is about tips in presentation:
1. Briefly state the topic
2. Explain the objective(s)
3. Signal the beginning of each part
4. Talk about the topic
5. Signal the end of the topic
6. Highlight the main points
7. Outline the main ideas in bullet point form
8. Tell listeners the reached the end of the main part.
The next material is about using expression with "AS"
1. As you all know
2. As I've already explained
3. As I mentioned before
4. As you can see.
Okay, that's all of about the material that I have learned.
Thank you
Wassalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh.
