Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh..

Hello everyone, how are you?  I hope well.  On October 26st, 2021, the day my class is studying English for journalists.  The activities that our class does are still the same as usual, namely watching videos on youtube and then leaving comments so that they can continue the next quiz.

The first material is about the "Digital Divide" meaning the way that some people around the world have access to technology and others do not. They are explain about how this digital divide occurs and why it is important to bridge the gab to create a situation where everyone can use digital technology. There are some reasons why the divide occurs:
1. Infrastructure means the basic structures needed to run a society.
2. Equipment hardware such as laptops, tablets and cell phones is expensive, so not everyone can afford it.
3. Literacy means that we can communicate by reading and writing by using technology to know how to type on a keyboard and how to use a mouse or touch screen and then knowing how to use all the programs.
There are two main reasons why is it important to try and bridge the digital divide: economic and social.

The next material is about "Data Commentary" to describing data from tables and figures how a a journalist can tell people what the numbers and figures in an article. There are three things:
1. Where to find the data use the structure number of table or figure + verb = shows presents and illustrates so we can begin the data commentary by saying table 1 shows or figures 3 presents and figure 2 illustrates.
2. What it means tells the reader something interesting about the data. That + subject + verb + object.
3. Moderating a claim. A figure uses pictures like a chart graph to show information while a table uses words and numbers. A claim is when that say something true like a statement.

The next material is about "Citizen Journalism" and two main types of there. Citizen journalism refers to way that ordinary. members of the public collect and distribute information via the internet.
1. Working on their own (social media, blogs and websites). They are work on their own and not affected by traditional media so they are creating something by themselves.
2. Working with news organizations (commenting on articles, crowdsourcing, live blogging).
a. Commenting on articles refers to the comments that the readers make on an online news article.
b. Crowdsourcing means using a crowd a lot of people to work on a project.
c. Live blogging occurs when something is happening live such as a concert a political meeting a sports match or several weather event like a snowstorm.

The next material is about "Ethics in the Digital" with the rights and responsibilities and also about the advantages and disadvantages of having more voices in the media. Citizen journalists also have responsibilities to think about some of the same principles of journalism as professional journalists when they write must be originality and fairness. They also concerned about impacting people such humanity respect for others and empowerment.
1.The voices in the media means the democratization of journalism which means ordinary people have more power.
2. The main advantage is that can see more the events happen in more places and cover all the stories.
3. The disadvantages of democratization of news media is that nobody checking what is written or like a bad writing, untrue rumors.

The last material is about "Intellectual Property" and censorship and then about how these two aspects of journalism have changed with the digital revolution.
1. Intellectual property means making it illegal to copy the work of a writer musician or other creator and assigning ownership of an idea or design to the person who created it.
2. Censorship is how governments control the media. Censorship works against freedom of the press.

Above are some of the material that I have learned in this meeting, if you want to add something you can write in the comments column.

Thank you.
