Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh
hello everyone, how are you? I hope well. On October 19, 2021, the day my class is studying English for journalists. The activities that our class does are still the same as usual, namely watching videos on youtube and then leaving comments so that they can continue the next quiz.
The first material is about "The Origins and Current State of the Digital Age".
Digital means electronic technology and the technology age is the time of that. Digital media refers to the news that is transmitted over the internet which includes words, pictures, audio and video.
1. The first computer - 1940s. Thinking about global communication in the world.
2. 1960s people worked on ways to share information using telephone lines to transmit data.
3. 1980s people got personal computers at home. However this was very slow and expensive and they are could not print pictures but only words.
4. 1989 - invention of the world wide web to changed everything.
5. 21st - the biggest changed in digital media and readers know the ability to interact with a news source.
6. 2003 - blogging allowing anyone with a computer and an Internet connection to share their views with the world. The social media site myspace began in the same year.
7. 2004 - Facebook and Flickr was created.
8. YouTube - 2005
9. Twitter - 2006
The next material is about "The Impact on the Journalistic Process".
The impact on the journalistic process with three ways the internet influenced traditional journalism:
1. Speed means that the journalists or regular people can post to the internet and must work faster to keep up.
2. Connection to the audience means that people can send news programs videos from their cell phones of events happening in real time.
3. More competition means that with the internet it's become easier and cheaper for channels to broadcast their programs.
The next material is about "The Impact on Traditional Media".
The impact on traditional media and how the Internet has changed newspapers in the following ways:
1. How newspapers make money
2. How newspapers employ people
3. How newspapers share the news. Money made from people who pay to read the newspaper. Newspaper's budget or the plan for spending money. People received the news before the Internet newspapers had teams of people who picked up the paper very early in the morning and then drove to neighborhoods and left a newspaper on the door every person who had paid for it and if it the cost a lot, so it can distribute or share with to many people.
The last material is about "Present Perfect Forms".
The present perfect tense is used to express an action or situation that started in the past and has been completed or is still happening or still has something to do with the present or even in the future. The structure of the present perfect use helping verb (has/have). We used have if the subject is (I, you, they, we) or any specific plural subject and we used has for (she, he, it) or any specific singular subject.
Above are some of the material that I have learned in the sixth meeting, if you want to add something you can write in the comments column.
Thank you
Wassalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarokatuh..
